Uses and scope
Polish uses ą and ę. Lithuanian also includes į and ų. These are alphabet letters in their respective languages. A historical association or a phonetic use of the ogonek does not make all modern ogonek vowels equivalent in pronunciation; the language's own account is needed. [27], [44], [4]
Similar shapes, different characters
The cedilla is a different mark, despite both sitting below letters. Do not choose between them by font shape alone. In canonically decomposed text, the ogonek follows its base and can coexist with other marks. The table includes such encoded combinations without asserting a common language for every one.
