Spelling and status
The acute in ĺ or ŕ belongs to the consonant letter, so a picker limited to accented vowels misses ordinary Slovak spelling. Keep l, ĺ and ľ separate. The last of these has a caron, which may appear beside the stem rather than as a centered wedge. [30], [3]
Distinctions to preserve
Do not import Czech ů into Slovak's regular marked-letter inventory. Ô is not ó, and ä is not á. Digraphs may have alphabetic status while still consisting of more than one Unicode character; that status does not create a new scalar value. [30], [3], [1], [2]
