Modern Greek monotonic spelling uses tonos and dialytika. Tonos corresponds to the acute mark in Unicode, while dialytika corresponds to diaeresis. They belong on Greek letters, not on visually similar Latin substitutes. [3], [9]

Spelling and status

The combined lowercase forms ΐ and ΰ contain both dialytika and tonos. Historical polytonic Greek also uses breathings and other marks, but those are a different scope from this Modern Greek collection. The table supplies encoded capital forms without claiming that every all-capital word keeps every accent. [3], [9]

Distinctions to preserve

Greek Α and Latin A are separate letters despite similar glyphs. Unicode advises representing the dialytika-plus-tonos combination with U+0308 followed by U+0301 rather than the legacy U+0344 character. Exact copying preserves the chosen sequence; normalization can make canonically equivalent spellings comparable. [3], [9], [1], [2]

Searchable character table

The collection contains the distinctive letters and marked forms discussed here, with both cases where applicable. It is a focused copying reference, not the complete alphabet. [3], [9], [9], [1]
